MAY 2009

CHARACTERS – Box, Guardian (James Hudson), Hulk, Wendigo, Wolverine

STORYLINE – KINGDOM OF NO

Set before Logan joined the X-Men, the story follows him as a lone agent for the Canadian government’s top-secret Department H program.

James MacDonald Hudson (Guardian) convinces the Canadian military to send Wolverine—still an untried operative with a mysterious past—to investigate the strangely silent fishing village of Harbordale after a commando unit disappears.

Upon arrival, Wolverine discovers the town has been completely taken over by an unstoppable cybernetic plague. The entire village is coated in machinery and guarded by powerful robots.

Wolverine battles his way to the center of the town, where he finds that the missing commando team has been converted by the machines. He eventually traces the source of the plague to a new mutant whose powers have spiraled out of control.

Wolverine successfully neutralizes the threat. The success of this mission leads the Canadian government to agree to fund the super-group Alpha Flight.

This issue was released to coincide with the theatrical debut of the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. While its title is similar to other “Origin” stories, it is a standalone adventure rather than a retelling of the 2001 Wolverine: Origin miniseries.
