STORYLINE – PART ONE

This series is a parody that blends the gritty world of the Gen 13 “gen-actives” with the colorful tropes of the “Magical Girl” anime and manga genre.

The story centers on Roxy Spaulding (Freefall), who finds herself trapped in a surreal, dreamlike world that satirizes popular anime such as Sailor Moon. Roxy’s pet alien, Qeelocke, acts as her “fairy godcritter,” providing her with a magical racquet that transforms her into a magical girl superheroine.

Roxy attempts to enjoy a romantic moment with a celebrity-styled version of Grunge at a nightclub. This is interrupted by P.C. Queen, a “shrill, self-righteous” version of her teammate Sarah Rainmaker, and her sidekick, Burnout. P.C. Queen strikes Grunge with lightning, splitting him into two separate personas: a “slovenly, horny slob” and a “sensitive, ‘new age’ man”.

Roxy is challenged to survive the “Mall of Doom” to restore Grunge.

Inside the mall, she encounters Bobbi Golem, a conceited, verbose version of Caitlin Fairchild, who attacks her. The issue ends with Roxy facing a figure from her past—Heather Johnson, a grade-school bully—while dodging an attack from Bobbi Golem.
