The story follows Ariel Chylde, an 18-year-old woman cursed with the ability to transform into the monstrous creatures from her recurring nightmares.

Core Conflict: The issue delves into the “psychological terrain” of Ariel’s past. A long-lost childhood friend named Kiley returns as an angry poltergeist seeking revenge for her death.

Setting: Much of the action occurs within the Nightmare Realm. Ariel is trapped in a dream world where Salem High School has come alive with evil, and the school’s walls are exploding with new terrors.

Character Vulnerability: While trapped within the nightmare itself, Ariel is unable to transform into her dream creatures, forcing her to rely on the ghost of her deceased friend for survival.

New Villain: This issue marks the debut of a new Darkchylde villain named Kid Wicked.
