STORYLINE – Higher Earth #1 (Boom! Studios, May 2012) introduces a fast-paced sci-fi adventure about alternate Earths, focusing on two central characters—Heidi, a girl born in garbage, and Rex, a rogue soldier—who battle against a sprawling empire that rules across multiple timelines.

Humanity has abandoned space exploration because “space is dead.” Instead, conquest happens across alternate Earths.

One dominant world, called Higher Earth, rules over countless parallel versions of the planet. A young woman raised in a garbage world, symbolizing the lowest rung of these alternate Earths. A soldier who has gone rogue, determined to challenge the empire and recruit Heidi into his mission.

Rex rescues Heidi from her bleak existence, but they immediately face pursuit from the empire’s forces. The issue sets up their struggle against an oppressive system spanning hundreds of Earths. The comic opens with dramatic action—Heidi literally falls out of the sky in the first pages. The narrative blends big-scale sci-fi concepts with gritty survival themes.
